This is our homemade guide to the area so that you can see how close we are to everything, and so that our guests can
better find their way. We have listed all our recommended places and showed you where they are on the maps.

You can easily access everything you need from our location, and we can help you figure out how to get here, and
wherever you need to go from here.
Commercial Drive (“The Drive”)
(5 blocks East of our properties, Running
North/South)

the Drive is the closest commercial hub. It has
tones of café’s , restaurants, and a good
selection  of little shops.

we recommend walking along Adanac St. (1/2
block north, that continues Union St.) until you
hit Commercial Drive, and turning right, up the
hill, to browse and see what takes your fancy.

here are some suggestions. again, these are
listed in order of proximity, as you walk up the
drive. A tip is to stay clear of Venables which is
a noisy street. Try Adanac Street which is 2
blocks South of here; a block North of
Venables.

C1: Bump and Grind
If you are into good coffee, this place is worth
the walk, and the extra half block from Uprising.
C2: Eternal Abundance
Amazing organic produce, and a little café with
vegetarian and raw food so good that will turn
carnivores into a vegans! Very Highly
recommended.
C3: The Reef
Awesome Caribbean food, good vibes. Big
Tings Gwan! Very Highly Reccommended
C4: Drive Organics
Great organic grocery store with everything
you need.
C5: Stella’s
Excellent Import Beer Selection. mainly tapas
on menu.
C6: Fet’s
For those times when all you need is a real
burger, some decent beer, and some rock
music.
C7: Teresa's Cafe.
Good simple healthy food. Great breakfast.
Worker owned and run.
C8: Granview Park.
A good spot to stop on your way along the
drive on a sunny day.
C9: Turk's Cafe.
Good Coffee. Quintisential Commercial Drive
atmousphere.
C10: The Lucky Rooster
A great little antiques store with lots of fun jems.
C11: Little Nest
This is a great cafe with delicious food that is
geared towards being baby and children
friendly.

An unusual and eclectic selection of folk and
cultural music

Great food at a fair price. Live Jazz most
nights. Cozy atmosphere. Highly
Reccomended.

Fun, friendly and good food. A bit of
everything hits the spot.

24 hour grocery store that has just about
everything.

Great grilled sandwiches!

Amazing Italian Pastries

Great Independent Record Store.

Great Eastern Fusion Menu. Pleasant and
stylish atmosphere. On the pricier side but
always good.
C34: Me and Julios.
Probably the best food on the drive, with a
very reasonable cost. Experimental Mexican.
Don’t miss the chocolate nachos for desert!
Very highly recommended.
C36: Harumbe
Ethiopian Food. Share a plate and eat with
your hands. Delicious Flavours.
C38: Van East Movie Theater
its not big, but it is your closest and friendliest
movie theater.
C42: Broadway Skytrain Station
probably the fastest way to travel
Southbound to Main Street.
Main Runs North South and is about
10 blocks West of Here. There are lots
of great restaurants, art spots, and
clothing shops on Main Street.

D1: The Foundation
Exellent Vegetarian Food with great
prices.
D2: Nirvana
Amazing Indian Food. Their chicken
vindaloo is to die for.

There are lots of other great
restaurants, cafe's and shops to chose
from on main street, and we
recommend a stroll
 from 7th to 28th
Ave. Especially if art and style are your
bag.
Eastbound towards Commercial
Drive

B1: Fujiya. (Clark Ave @ Venables St.,
3 block South East)
A Japanese grocery store and Sushi
place. They have a section of lots of
premade sushi, but they will make
anything on their menu.
B2:Uprising Bread (Venables St. 3
blocks South, 6 blocks East)
This place has a reputation for
amazing baked goods. But it also has
very good coffee and soup and
sandwiches.
Westbound into Strathcona (in order of proximity): this map shows you a more detailed view of our area with our
reccomendations of great places to go:

A1: The International  House of Gelato (Pink Building 2 blocks South)
218 flavors! And funny Italian music! Less than a block away! Irresistible! But watch out, the art of the ice cream combination
becomes very addictive.
A2: Strathcona Park (2 blocks South West)
Check out the beautiful community gardens hidden behind the big trees. Lots of space to lay in the sun under a tree, play
some sports, or pull some stunts in the skate park.
A3: The Union Street Market (2 blocks South to Union St., 3-4 blocks west)
This little family run ‘market’ is somehow a community hub of strathcona. It is homely and sweet  and has a lovely location
where you can kill a lot of time. you  might soon see the same characters reappearing each time you come. They also have
good pastries.
A4: The “Little” Park in Strathcona (4 blocks west)
A great way to soak up the atmosphere of Strathcona. Beautiful houses and gardens all around, with swings  and climbing
frame, and an water park for kids! Soccer every Sunday afternoon is a good ol’ time.
A5: The Wilder Snail (4 blocks west)
The best coffee in Strathcona, a good little selection of groceries, and good sandwiches.  It has a friendly charachter  and a
great location. Great for sitting out in the sun, or in the park opposite.
A6: Benny’s Market (2 Blocks South to Union Street, 7 blocks west)
Another homely little grocery market a little further along Union St . A good deli section and some treats.
A7: The Bike Route (2 blocks South to Union Street)
Outside your door is a bike route which will take you along Union Street, all the way along the sea wall to the beautiful forests
and beaches of Stanley Park. Adventurous riders can go all the way round and hit the Aquarium on the other side (Where
there is a BABY Beluga whale!)
A12: Axum Ethiopian Restaurant
A Hidden Jem. Dont judge a book by its cover. The food is Amazing! and the people are wonderful. Highly Reccommended.

About Strathcona, Our Area
Strathcona is an area of Vancouver which
seems to go unnoticed by the untrained
eye, and thats the way we like it. It is a
quaint historic neighbourhood hidden away
from the main streets, and the hustle and
bustle of business, while still being
unbelievably close to downtown.

It is the most authentic area of Vancouver,
with old wooden homes, lots of gardens,
and a friendly community.  Just a few blocks
away you'll find friendly groceries and cafés
and two beautiful parks.

Also nearby, are commercial drive (culture,
shops, cafés), main street (style and arts),
and a vast array of amenities all within
walking distance.
Modes of Travel
Walking - Vancouver is a beautiful city to walk around and everything you need is in walking distance.

Biking - We are directly on a bike route that takes you through false creek to the beaches of English bay, to the wilderness
of Stanley park only half an hour away. There are many safe and beautiful bike routes to explore.

Busing - We are on a very convenient bus route that gets you almost anywhere in Vancouver within 30 minutes with 1
change, max!. We are a 5 minute bus ride away from the central bus and train station (Greyhound, Amtrak, etc.)

Driving- For getting up to the mountains, we recommend renting a vehicle. The closest car rental is only 3 blocks away.
